Art

The art of any profession is how the profession expresses its philosophy. Therefore the art of chiropractic needs to express the philosophy of chiropractic.

The purpose of chiropractic is not to treat a given condition. In chiropractic we correct subluxations so that the body's Innate Intelligence can fully express itself. If a subluxation is the cause of a particular condition, then naturally the condition will improve once the subluxation is corrected and the body is given time to heal. This is much different than simply treating a condition by masking the symptom with some form of pain killer.

In the art of painting there are many different expressions or techniques available. They are all based on the same fundamental principles - you need paint, some form of a brush, and some type of medium to paint on. As long as you have that you can paint. It is wonderful that people are able to develop many different was to express the art of painting. Wouldn’t it be a great loss if everyone was forced to conform to paint in only one style?

The art of chiropractic also has developed a number of different techniques. All of these techniques are bound together because they too are based on common principles. What you need for the art of chiropractic is an individual with a subluxation and desire to have it corrected. The art is then the correction of the subluxation by the application of some type of force. The force can vary between a very gentle sustained contact to a quick high velocity low amplitude thrust.

The variety of techniques used in chiropractic is a tremendous asset because humanity is composed of a variety of individuals. Any given technique or approach will work for most people but not for some. By having more than one approach available chiropractors are able to help a much larger percentage of the population.

It is important to know that not all chiropractors use the same technique. If you find you don't like the technique of a particular chiropractor, seek out another chiropractor that uses a different approach. Often if you just ask your chiropractor if they know of someone with a different approach they would be happy to refer you.

For all techniques the goal is the same - the reduction or elimination of sublxuations. When subluxations are removed the nervous system is able to function normally and this will result in an overall health improvement.

Some chiropractors will also offer services outside the scope of chiropractic in that the purpose of the procedure is not the correction of subluxation. Usually these extra services are helping you to live in line with the laws of nature. Some of the more common services are counselling in exercise, or nutrition. These services are certainly helpful but they should not be considered as part of the art of chiropractic.

If you wish to receive information about the specific technique used in our practice, send us an e-mail by clicking here. We will send you back information outlining our approach to the correction of your subulxations.
